What’s included

Your evening includes an expert-led Greek wine tasting under the Acropolis with rare wines from handpicked local wineries, plus delicious Greek tapas from selected producers—all hosted by a top sommelier who shares stories as well as pours.

I’ll admit, I was nervous about pronouncing “Kidonitsa” right in front of Dimitris, our sommelier. He just grinned and poured a pale gold glass anyway — I still don’t know if I said it right. We’d barely sat down at the restaurant when he started sketching out Greece’s wine map on a napkin, hands moving fast, Athens humming outside. The Parthenon was just there above us, lit up like it knew we were watching.

Dimitris didn’t talk at us; he talked with us — asking what we usually drink back home, then sliding over a Roditis that tasted like wildflowers after rain. The air smelled faintly of grilled bread from the kitchen and something herbal I couldn’t place. He brought out little plates — olives that snapped between my teeth, cheese so creamy it almost melted before I finished chewing. At one point he laughed when my friend tried to say “Augoustiatis” (I think she added an extra syllable), but he seemed happy we tried.

The wines were all from small Greek wineries — not the stuff you find on big supermarket shelves. Limnio was earthy and almost salty, and the Muscat had this sharp sweetness that lingered longer than I expected. People at nearby tables kept glancing up at the Acropolis too; it felt like everyone was sharing the same quiet awe for a second or two. The sun faded behind the hill and suddenly everything looked softer — I still think about that view sometimes when I open a bottle at home.
