You’ll soar above Grenoble’s cliffs with an expert pilot, catch wide-open views of the valley and Belledonne mountains, and maybe even try steering yourself if conditions allow. It’s open to most ages and abilities—just bring your sense of adventure.
The morning air felt crisp as we zipped up our jackets at the meeting spot, right near the old funicular station. There’s this faint scent of pine and damp earth—typical for early summer in the Belledonne foothills. Our instructor, Luc, greeted us with a grin and handed out helmets and harnesses. He’s been flying here for over a decade, so you get that calm, confident vibe from him straight away.
Walking to the launch site, I could hear cowbells echoing from somewhere down in the valley. The takeoff itself is quick—one moment your feet are on grass, then suddenly you’re floating above those sheer cliffs. The view opens up fast: rooftops below, the funicular tracks winding up like a toy set, and way off in the distance, snow still clings to the Belledonne peaks even in June. If conditions are smooth enough, Luc lets you try steering for a bit. It’s not as hard as I thought—just lean gently and watch how the wing responds.
Yes, it’s designed for first-timers. You’ll fly tandem with a certified instructor who handles everything unless you want to try steering briefly.
