Christ Church Cathedral (founded c.1028) is the spiritual heart of the city, and one of the top visitor attractions in Dublin. The history of Christ Church Cathedral reflects the history, both religious and political, of Ireland. The Cathedral Crypt is the largest in Ireland, dating back to the 12th century and the beautiful neo-gothic nave is an oasis of calm in the middle of a busy city. Christ Church is a working cathedral and a sacred space. No eating or drinking, or the wearing of baseball caps or any type of hat is permitted inside the cathedral.
As a working cathedral, in exceptional circumstances, Christ Church will sometimes close at short notice. Please check the cathedral website and social media for updates. In these instances, visitor tickets will be honored the next day or a full refund offered.
