What’s the experience like?

The first thing that hit me was the dry warmth as we stepped out near the Giza Plateau—sand crunching underfoot, camels shifting in the distance. Our guide, Ahmed, met us right by the entrance gate. He had this easy way of weaving stories about Khufu and his pyramid while we stood in their shadow. I’d seen photos before, but nothing prepares you for how massive those stones really are. There’s a faint smell of dust and sweet tea from a nearby vendor drifting on the breeze. Ahmed pointed out where to get the best photo—just past the Sphinx, away from the crowds.

Next up was Saqqara. The drive there took maybe half an hour; you’ll notice how the city noise fades into open fields and palm groves. The Step Pyramid of Djoser looks almost otherworldly against the blue sky—layers stacked like a giant wedding cake.
