"You ever wonder how they actually built these?" That’s what our guide, Hossam, asked as we stood in the shadow of the Great Pyramid. I could smell dust and something sweet from a vendor nearby — dates maybe. The sun hit different here, sharper somehow. We’d just arrived from Cairo, barely twenty minutes away but it felt like another world.
