You’ll step inside a modern Prague shooting range with pro instructors guiding you through legendary weapons like AK47s and Glocks. Try different guns in a safe space right in the city center, swap stories with locals over snacks, and walk away feeling braver than when you came in.
Ever wondered what it actually feels like to hold an AK47? I hadn’t really — not until we walked into RANGER Prague Shooting, right in the center, and that smell of metal and oil hit me. It’s not like the movies. Our instructor, Pavel, grinned when he saw how wide my eyes got just looking at the wall of pistols and rifles. He handed me ear protection and said something about “respecting the noise” — which made sense about three seconds later.
The first shot from the Glock surprised me more than I’d admit. There’s this sharp kick, but also a weird calm after you pull the trigger. The whole place hummed with energy — a couple of Czech guys were joking in the corner while someone else tried out a Dragunov. Pavel was patient (and honestly pretty funny), correcting my grip without making me feel dumb. He even let us try the UZI, which rattled in my hands way more than I expected. My friend Li tried to say “thank you” in Czech and got a big laugh from everyone — I think we butchered it but nobody minded.
I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. There’s bottled water and snacks if you need a break, but mostly I just wanted to keep going, swapping stories with our guide between rounds. By the end, my hands smelled faintly of gunpowder (not unpleasant, actually) and there was this odd sense of accomplishment buzzing around my head. Walking back out into Prague’s streets felt surreal — like stepping out of one world into another.
