You’ll glide through quiet neighborhoods on a Segway tour of Prague’s castle district, see St. Vitus Cathedral up close, pause for photos at Strahov Monastery’s viewpoint, and taste centuries-old monastic beer with your local guide—plus shuttle transfers and all gear included. It’s lively but never rushed; you might even catch yourself grinning mid-ride.
I was almost late because I couldn’t figure out which tram stop was closest to the meeting point—classic me. The office smelled like coffee and raincoats, with helmets lined up by the door. Our guide, Tomas, had this dry humor about safety instructions (“don’t try to race the embassy guards, they always win”). After a wobbly test-drive in the parking lot (I nearly took out a potted plant), we piled into a minibus for the short ride up toward Prague Castle—Segways aren’t allowed in the city center, which honestly made sense once I saw those cobblestones.
The first real breeze hit as we zipped past quiet villas in Old Stresovice—Tomas called it “Prague’s Beverly Hills,” but it felt more like leafy suburbia with Art Nouveau gates. The Segway felt weirdly smooth after all my worrying. We paused outside some embassy buildings where a guard actually nodded at us (felt like a win). There’s this moment when you crest the hill and suddenly Prague Castle is just there—huge, old stones catching the light. I didn’t expect to feel so small next to St. Vitus Cathedral. Tomas pointed out tiny details on the facade while someone’s dog barked in the distance.
Strahov Monastery came up fast after that—a jumble of old walls and ivy, monks in brown robes ducking through an archway. The air changed; smelled faintly of yeast and woodsmoke from somewhere. We took a break at their brewery (beer since 1400s!), and even though I’m not much of a beer person, I tried their amber one anyway—malty, warm, kind of comforting after all that wind on my face. I still think about that taste sometimes. We lingered at the viewpoint for photos; Tomas offered to take ours but his thumb ended up in half of them. Didn’t really matter.
