You’ll walk secret trails, hear real stories from locals, dip your feet in clear pools, and ride an artisan cable car above Jardín’s rooftops—all with a native guide who knows every corner.
The morning air in Jardín always feels a bit cooler as you set off down the old La Herrera path. I remember the way our guide—Miguel, born and raised here—paused by the weathered gate of Rosalía Peláez’s ranch. He shared stories about her and Óscar Ramírez that made us laugh and look at the hills differently. The scent of wet earth and coffee hung in the air; you could hear a rooster somewhere off in the distance.
We reached La Cascada del Amor just as sunlight started to peek through the trees. The waterfall isn’t huge, but it’s got this gentle sound that makes you want to sit for a while. Locals say couples come here to make wishes—Miguel winked when he told us that. Downstream, Charco Corazón looked like something out of an old postcard—a natural pool where kids sometimes splash around after school. The water was cold enough to wake you up quick if you dipped your toes in.
The next stretch took us through a tunnel carved right into the mountain—La Cascada Escondida Tunnel. It’s only about 120 meters but feels longer with the echo of your footsteps and cool drops from above. On the other side, rows of coffee plants and banana trees lined the trail. We stopped to try some fresh banana from a roadside vendor; honestly, it tasted sweeter than any I’ve had back home.
The last part winds up toward Filo de Oro. From there, you catch your breath (and maybe a snack) before hopping onto the Garrucha—the old cable car locals still use to cross over into town. The view from up there is wild: all of Jardín spread out below, red roofs and green fields stretching as far as you can see.
Yes! The paths are gentle and our guides adjust the pace for everyone. It’s great for families or anyone curious about Jardín’s nature.
I’d recommend comfy shoes (it can get muddy), sunscreen, maybe a light rain jacket just in case—it’s Colombia after all! We provide snacks.
