If you want a real taste of RN’s North Coast—dunes, lagoons, wild rides, and hidden spots only locals know—this buggy tour is for you. You’ll swim in clear lagoons, meet friendly guides, and end up at one of the best beaches around.
The first thing that hit me was the salty breeze as we climbed into our buggy near Genipabu. Our guide, Paulo, grinned and asked if we wanted the “com emoção” route—basically, the wild way. We said yes, of course. The engine roared and suddenly we were flying over sandy hills, the kind that make your stomach drop for a second. Genipabu’s dunes are always shifting—Paulo explained that the wind changes their shape every week. We spotted a group of dromedaries lounging nearby, their bells clinking softly. I never thought I’d see camels in Brazil, but here they are.
After bouncing through the dunes, we stopped at Lagoa de Pitangui. Locals call it an oasis, and I get why—the water’s cool and clear, perfect for a quick swim. There’s a tiny bar on the shore where Dona Lúcia serves up cold coconut water. I could’ve stayed there all day, but soon we were off again, passing little fishing villages where kids waved as we zipped by.
Lagoa de Jacuma was next. If you’re up for it, you can try the “aero-bunda”—basically a zipline that drops you right into the lagoon. It’s a rush! There’s also the “sky-bunda” and something called the kamikaze slide—Paulo dared us to try them all. The sand here is so fine it squeaks under your feet. By midday, the sun gets pretty intense, so don’t forget sunscreen.
We wrapped up at Jacuma Beach. The water’s warm and almost see-through—great for swimming or just floating around. Lunch was at a simple beach shack; grilled fish with farofa and a squeeze of lime. There’s plenty of time to relax before heading back. The whole day felt like a mix of adventure and lazy beach moments—honestly, it’s hard not to smile when you’re covered in sand and saltwater.
Absolutely! Kids love the dunes and lagoons. There are safe options for little ones and our guides are great with families.
It’s best to book ahead—especially during weekends or holidays—to make sure you get your preferred date.
Bring sunscreen, a hat, swimwear, sandals or flip-flops, and maybe a towel. Cash is handy for snacks or drinks at lagoon stops.
